TGH Appoints New General Manager of People and Culture

Tainui Group Holdings (TGH) today announced the appointment of Leesah Murray (Ngaati Maniapoto, Ngaati Tuwharetoa) to the role of General Manager People and Culture.

TGH Chief Executive Chris Joblin says Ms Murray brings a strong focus on quality at an executive and governance level. Ms Murray has more than 15 years experience with Te Wānanga o Aotearoa, including the past three as Executive Director – Quality & Corporate Services at the educational provider which sees around 1,500 employees serve more than 30,000 students at 90 sites nationwide.

“We are delighted to welcome Leesah to the TGH team with her experience in leading executive operations across a range of functions. Leesah’s proven strengths in human resources, health & safety and strategy development are an excellent fit for TGH as we continue to build a high performing team to deliver on our kaupapa,” Mr Joblin says.

One of Leesah’s earlier roles as National Health and Safety Manager for Te Wānanga o Aotearoa saw her create and manage a wellness programme that was recognised with the Safeguard 2015 Supreme Award. She holds a Bachelor of Environmental Management as well as a Masters in Business Administration with Distinction and is currently studying towards a Diploma in Te Reo Māori. Leesah is also a Trustee at Te Tokanganui-a-Noho marae.

Leesah is looking forward to joining TGH where she sees the opportunity to continue the development of the current 40 strong team in their roles as kaitiaki (guardian) of the commercial assets of Waikato-Tainui.

TGH’s values provide a strong foundation on which to build and exceed the tribe’s expectations. I see a great opportunity to align and harness the collective strengths of the TGH team to deliver the kaupapa with Waikato-Tainui,” Ms Murray says.

Leesah will commence duties with TGH in October 2017 following completion of existing commitments for her current employer.
