Te Kaarearea takes flight

Pictured above is the Te Kaarearea housing development.

The Te Kaarearea housing development in Hamilton East counts as one of our all-time favourite kaupapa to have had the opportunity to be involved with.

Te Kaarearea is a pilot initiative with our iwi, Waikato-Tainui, aimed at supporting tribal members into their first homes. It’s a subdivision of 50 new whare on whenua which was previously the site of state housing owned by Kaainga Ora.

TGH’s in-house experience made us the ideal development partner to bring this project to life and we were proud to oversee this initiative from start to finish, including the development of the business case, consenting, earthworks, civil works and the appointment of house building partners.

All sections have been sold with 88% of the properties selling to tribal members. The last houses will soon be built and our role in this kaupapa is now complete.

We acknowledge Waikato-Tainui for their pursuit and leadership of a kaupapa like this which has a long-term, positive impact on the lives of tribal members and their future. Tino kino te pai.
