The Environmental Protection Authority (EPA) was established to centralise and streamline the decision-making process of nationally significant proposals. It has specific statutory functions under the Resource Management Act in relation to matters of national significance.
Following lodgment of a private plan request with the EPA for Ruakura, the Minister for the Environment, Hon. Amy Adams, has determined that it is part of a project of national significance and directed the request to an independent board of inquiry for decision; please see the Environmental Protection Authority website to see the status of the application.
