Fostering future leaders

Every summer we look forward to our internship programme which is a 10-week employment and learning opportunity for rangatahi tribal members.

This summer our interns were Rawhiti-Whenua Ngataki (Te Awamaarahi Marae) and Tori Stevenson (Kahotea Marae) who came out on top of our application process. Tori joined our Property team and Rawhiti-Whenua worked with our People and Culture team.

But their experience wasn’t limited to just those teams. They were with us to get an insight into how an iwi commercial company with a diverse portfolio operates and this meant they got out and about, including visiting our farms and meeting the locals.

During the internship, Tori graduated with a Bachelor of Laws degree and has now gone on to do Te Tohu Paetahi (total immersion te reo Maaori) at the University of Waikato. Rawhiti-Whenua returns to Waikato University for the final year of her law degree.

We thank them for the enthusiasm, learnings and fresh perspectives they brought to TGH and, as with all our interns, we will follow their careers with interest.
