Pictured above is the ACC building site, Hamilton
It may not look like a lot has happened since October last year but there’s been plenty going on at the ACC building site that the karu (eye) can’t necessarily see.
All mahi for one of the three pavilions to be ready for the first pour of concrete foundations this month is close to completion. This includes excavation and piling, foundation beams placement, reinforcing, waterproofing and boxing for building A. The existing carpark asphalt has been lifted and the tower crane is now fully installed onsite.
And if you’ve driven by the corner of Collingwood and Tristram Streets in Hamilton lately you can’t have missed the new hoarding that’s now in place.
Our construction partner is local company Hawkins which has an impressive track record in large-scale multi-level commercial buildings. A major priority for us is that businesses owned by tribal members have every opportunity to sub-contract to provide the goods and services required.
The team at Hawkins has been working with us and our colleagues at Waikato-Tainui to ensure that together we make that happen. And the good news is that two businesses owned by tribal members have been directly nominated by Hawkins for contracts.
The estimated completion date is October 2022 and we’ll keep you up to date as the site is transformed from a carpark to one of the most modern, safe and environmentally friendly office spaces in our rohe, complete with the distinctive and aataahua iwi design created by Renata Te Wiata.
